Simon Lang - Scouting Radio Ireland

Simon Lang is the Programme Manager for Scouting Radio. Simon was born in Kildare, Ireland in 1980 and has been involved in Scouting since the age of 6 as a Beaver. He is a life long Scout and has assisted with three troops, 48th Dublin Lucan, 3rd Kildare 1st Celbridge and Troop 44 Baden Powell Scouts in Ireland.

Simon has over 10 years of leadership experience, holding the position of Assistant Scout Leader and Scout Leader. Simon also held positions in Cill Dara Scout County for Scouting Ireland as Programme Co-ordinator for Scout section.

Simon is currently a Rover with the Phoenix Rover Crew.

"Scouting is a place for kids, teens and adults to learn and grow, some of the best life skills learnt were in scouts from domestic skills, to social skills. Scouting can help a young person grow into an outstanding adult and member of his/her community". 

Simon strengths in scouting are programme design and camp planning, people organising, pioneering and games.

Simon holds a diploma in Sound Engineering along with a BA in Media Production and Management from Ballyfermot College of further education. He has been involved with Scouting Radio since its establishment.

Apart from his role as Programming Manager for Scouting Radio, Simon co-presents "The Communications Centre".

For Simon, Scouting Radio gives him a chance to share what he has learnt with other Scouts worldwide.

"Scouting Radio is a great opportunity for Scouts to learn and grow deeper in their understanding of the Scouting method by being able to ask questions about Scouts or Scouting skills. They can learn about the history of Scouting or even keep up to date with Scouting around the world"
